I'm posting this as a reminder to my baby sister that if she sits out in the sun any longer, she will either turn into a nice Prada bag or the INS ('scuze me, OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY) is gonna come and get her dark ass. Now that I've solicited my warning to the little Raisinette, I will be a huge hypocrite and say...we had a great day at the beach today! haha :) I just love the beach...I could spend hours and hours there and never leave (until I feel like I want to eat my own head cuz Im so hungry). I suppose Im not the only one who feels that way about the oshun hon, eh? Given the fact there was NO VACANCY on the entire East Coast on 4th of July weekend n' all ;)

Ok, Im testing my audience to see if y'all have the cojones enough to engage in blogversation regarding a really disturbing murder case study. Im gonna do it in the comment section here and see what you have to say, if anything, before it makes it to the main page, intertwined with my shallow immature tales of excessive alcohol abuse and boy chasing. ;)
I know I can write about what I want to...its my blog, but I think Ive found one too many times how I can get so enthralled in an in depth discussion regarding forensics and criminal investigation, inevitably revealing details and facts that actually make NORMAL people very uncomfortable...and really, I dont want to make people who are ACTUALLY willing to talk to thelauralee, uneasy. I want to make you shiny happy people! But, this is a topic thats very interesting to me...it gets me enthused to learn and welp, tomato, toMAToh, right?
Anyway, if its well received, I will have to blog about this topic more elaborately because I can really get into it, but I will try and keep it reigned in for now. :)
This is a case that Ive followed for years and the day has unfortunately come where the fairer of the Canadian Schoolgirl Killer Duo, Karla Homolka, is being released from prison.
Eight years ago, Homolka-Bernardo (married to sicko Paul Bernardo who she assisted in several rape and murder hunts) copped a plea in exchange for undeniably incriminating confessions of her husband's penchant for abduction, rape, torture and the subsequent killing of young Canadian school girls no more than 14 years old. Its a sick twist of a story folks and if you are into true crime stories, this one takes the cake.
So this beeyatch is getting out of jail very soon and is terrified for her life. SHE SHOULD BE. Not that vigilante justice is acceptable by any means, but the chain of murderous events that allegedly stemmed from nearly 32 rapes in the Scarborough area alone, enraged, disgusted and frightened the peaceful Ontario community and they are NOT over it yet. Her "lawyers" are asking the Canourt (this is Canadian court) ;) to offer sweet Karla a blackout date with the media to protect her from everyone in Canada who wants to lynch this bitch.
This decision will be made today in a Montreal courtroom and it will be interesting to see what happens. This girl is as notorious as they get (besides Paul of course who is NEVER getting out of prison, let alone solitary confinement, and who should have been put in the electric chair sopping wet, but those damn diplomatic Canucks don't have the death penalty up there!)

Maybe it will spark your interest in this thrillingly notorious murder investigation. Its particularly pertinent to Forensic Science and proper investigation, which was highly botched and will be infamous in Canada forever. Here they have the worst serial killer, probably EVER, and the evidence is collected improperly, the investigation went in the wrong direction, legal counsel was disbarred for not being able to ethically even take the case, one of the killers cops a wimpy EIGHT YEAR sentence for multiple rapes and murders...including her BABY SISTER, and finally, the media is gagged during the trial and a number of books and articles regarding the facts surrounding this trial were banned. Censorship. The last straw.
Ok and I said I wouldnt get going on this trial! haha Maybe later, but what a case! Sorry to be morbid, but if you think it was some crazy shit that CSI's found concrete RESIDUE in Scott Peterson's dingy (merely IMPLYING that he might have "done something with it involving Laci"), then try swallowing the news that your local police department collected 5 concrete blocks with the remains of a 14 year old murder victim (visible), found by a vacationing couple, at a quiet local fishing reserve, and then fucking it up and leaving it to the prosecutors to present THAT in court. Not to mention, that evil POS video tapped every disturbing step of his heinous crimes and the tapes were then played in court in front of those girls' mothers. Sick, Sick Sick.
THIS is why the death penalty exists in the US. Everyone may not agree, but sometimes people like Bernardo need to be eradicated from the face of this planet, just to give the rest of the world a chance for peace, goodness and faith in justice.
Anyway, check it out...its definitely one of the most chilling crime stories of all time. Tell me what you think, especially you Stargate Jumper...this happened in your country not so long ago, not to mention, the media (both Canadian and American) will be swarming your city tomorrow for this blackout plea. When I speak with people from Ontario, it hits very close to home. Like I said...they are still enraged, rightfully so. Bernardo would give Ted Bundy the creeps (oh I mean...if he were alive today n' all).

First, you got to understand that the case Bernardo-Homolka was a first for most Canadians.(It probably happened before, but this case was publicized and on the news like never before) The whole thing was horrible and for the first time, most thought: "Shit, this kind of things can happen in Canada too." Enraged, doesn't even come close to what we collectively felt. Some of us, we're ready to put a gun to each of the infamous couple heads and pull the trigger without any remorse. That says a lot, knowing that Canadians are usually very peace loving and not really gun waving people.
It was one hell of a rude awakening.
Second: I can't really comment on how well, or not, the case was presented in court. I really don't know enough about it to make any kind of comment.
I do remember at the time that if Canada, still had the death penalty, it sure would apply to those 2. No matter if KH plea bargained against her husband. And as wierd as it may seems, I think the most dangerous of the 2 is getting out. Not a good thing. This being said, we have a system, that is not perfect, but we'll have to accept that KH is being released. No matter how hard it is to swallow.
The good thing is that KH will never ever have anything closely resembling a normal life. She'll wish she was in prison for some privacy.
My guess is, and only a guess, this woman does last 6 months outside. Either she'll kill herself or someone will execute her, mob style. There has to be a contract on her head.

You second post I'll comment on more after I read your links, which at the moment I can't seem to get working. Sounds very distrubing from what you say. I go back and forth on the death penalty...but I know if it was someone I loved murdered I would probably want the person killed, so it makes it hard for me to be completely against it. I'll post more when I read more on it.

Holy Shit!! Karla is getting out and I totally agree with stargate jumper- she will either kill herself or someone else will. She was so brainwashed and fucked up, I just know that she didn't transition into some amazing, stand up citizen while she's been in prison- she had no mind of her own and was a confused, frail woman...ughh that was one of the most fascinating true stories ever...wow, it's hard to believe her time has come to get released.
